AV Contest

Press Release

Tyler, TX (January 15, 2026) - Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) Texas is thrilled to announce the winners of our Power of You(th) Teen Video Contest. After receiving numerous submissions, the judges have selected a submission from Canton High School’s Audio / Video Production 2 class as the Texas 1st Place winner.  The 2nd place winners are a group of students from Pine Tree High School’s CTE - Audio / Video Class.

The contest, which was open to 9th–12th grade high school students across the region, challenged participants to create a short video on the theme of the dangers of underage alcohol and cannabis use. The winning video stood out for its creativity, originality, and powerful message.

The 2nd place prize winners will evenly split a $500 prize. In addition, their video will be featured on MADD Texas social media channels, giving them a platform to share their message with a wider audience. For more information about the 2025 MADD Power of You(th) Teen Video Contest and to watch the winning videos, subscribe to our social channels Facebook: MADD Texas and Instagram: MADD.Texas

Teen alcohol use kills 4,300 people under the age of 21 in the U.S. each year.  MADD understands that just as teens can be influenced by others' negative choices, they can also be impacted by the positive choices that their peers make. That is why MADD has called upon teens to take a stand and be the example by creating these videos.

“We want to congratulate Canton & Pine Tree High School students on their incredible achievement,” said Kathy Davidson, MADD Texas Senior Program Specialist. “We know how important it is to inspire the next generation to be a positive example to their peers and to continue using their voice to make a positive impact in the world.”

This contest was funded by Goosehead Insurance, Phaup Agency. All our underage substance use prevention programming is helping empower youth in our community to resist the pressure to drink alcohol or consume cannabis and to never ride with an impaired driver. Further, it is bringing greater awareness about the influence teens have in creating a future without impaired driving.
