LONGVIEW—Texas Bank and Trust is pleased to announce the selection of 11 Pine Tree High School Seniors to serve on its 2023-2024 Student Board of Directors.

The TB&T Student Board is a prestigious program recognizing outstanding high school seniors in the community.

PTHS Seniors Jose Aranda, Alaina Boyd, Katherine Castillo, Jeronimo Galvan, Katherine Garcia, Stefany Paz, Kaitlin Quintanilla, Samantha Rangel, Larkin Seidel, Stephanie Viramontes, and Megan Wolfe qualified for this year’s Student Board, and will join with 41 other seniors from Trinity School of Texas, Christian Heritage, Longview,  Spring Hill, and St. Mary’s Catholic Schools to make up the 46th senior class to participate in the TB&T program in Longview.

The 2023-2024 Student Board members will be introduced to the TB&T bank staff in an Orientation Reception, to be held at 7 pm, Monday, August 21, in the lobby of TB&T’s Main Bank location in downtown Longview. Parents and school administrators are invited to attend.

The Student Board program is designed to introduce students to banking and money management at a critical point in their lives, and provide them with the essential economic building blocks to earning, spending, saving, and investing money. This year, the students will test their innovation and business development skills with the return of the popular program, entitled Investment Questfirst introduced to the Student Board exactly 10 years ago.  As aspiring “entrepreneurs,” the student board members will have eight months to conceptualize a product, service, or business they could potentially bring to market.

Texas Bank and Trust established the Student Board - its first and most enduring financial literacy program - in 1978. Students were selected based on their grade point average, extra-curricular activities, and afterschool work activities. Students must submit an essay with their application as well as two letters of recommendation from either a faculty member or administrator to be considered for the program. Students accepted into the 2023 Student Board program were notified in early June.

Since its inception, the Student Board has introduced more than 3,500 area high school seniors to banking and money management.
