We want to brag on the Pine Tree Precision dance team for their success in the East Texas Extravaganza competition at Athens High School. They performed both team and officer dances, earning Grand Champion and Top Rank awards.
Great work, Precision, and good luck in the MA Dance contest at Tyler Junior College this Saturday!

Pirate juniors Keith Fowler and Mitchell Eggerman advanced in the Texas Eastman Black History Essay and Oratorical Contest. The contest has two rounds. For round one, students submit research essays about an African American who has impacted a STEM field. If their essay is one of the five chosen to advance, they are invited to round two where they deliver a memorized speech related to their essay at the Texas Eastman campus. Essay and oratorical scores are combined for final rankings.
The contest began for students in the East Texas area six years ago, and Pine Tree has placed winners every year, earning more than $13,000 in scholarships. This year, Mitchell wrote about Kara Branch, founder of Black Girls Do Engineer. Keith wrote about Dr. Gladys West, whose research led to the Global Positioning System (GPS). Mitchell and Keith will compete on February 18th for round two.
Congratulations, Keith and Mitchell, and good luck next week!
