Our History
Pine Tree Primary: Building Foundations, Growing Learners, Leading by Example
Our Roots: A Legacy of Learning
Pine Tree Primary is part of the larger Pine Tree Independent School District (ISD), one of the oldest school systems in Texas, founded in 1847. The district’s story began beneath a towering pine tree where early community members gathered for religious services and, eventually, to begin teaching local children—planting the literal and figurative roots of public education in the area.
As the community grew—especially during the East Texas oil boom of the 1930s—so did Pine Tree ISD, earning a reputation for academic excellence and community pride. Today, Pine Tree ISD continues that tradition, serving the Longview area with a strong commitment to quality education and lifelong learning.
Our School: Building the Foundation for Every Learner
The modern Pine Tree Primary campus opened its doors in 2009 at its current Silver Falls Road location, providing a purpose-built environment for early childhood learning. Before that, the Primary was located at the corner of Pine Tree Road and Loop 281, in the building that now serves as Community Connections.
Today, Pine Tree Primary is home to prekindergarten and kindergarten students and proudly operates as a Model PLC at Work Campus—recognized nationally for excellence in collaboration, continuous improvement, and commitment to high levels of learning for all.

Our Future
At Pine Tree Primary, our future is centered on ensuring that every student has the support and opportunities they need to succeed. We are committed to providing differentiated instruction, targeted interventions, and enrichment experiences that help each child reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. By focusing on student-centered learning and collaboration among teachers, we can create a school environment where every child thrives.
We also see a future where families and the community are fully engaged partners in education. Expanding programs like family literacy nights, newcomer English classes, and other wraparound supports ensures that learning extends beyond the classroom and strengthens connections between home and school. These efforts empower families to actively participate in their child’s learning journey.
Equally important is developing the next generation of educators. Through programs that support staff growth and encourage career pathways in education, we aim to build a strong, collaborative team that is prepared to meet the needs of every student. By prioritizing innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, Pine Tree Primary is shaping a future where every child is confident, capable, and ready for lifelong learning.
