Pine Tree Fine Arts

At Pine Tree dance is more than an afterthought. Dance teams started at Birch and Parkway in 2024. In two years the districtwide program has grown to serve 160+ students in 3rd - 12th grades. The Birchettes, Prestige, Sapphires, and Precision perform throughout the community in addition to competing. Students taking dance in junior high and high school earn a P.E. credit. The program has flourished. The vision is to offer free and inclusive dance training where students build discipline, poise, physical and mental strength and endurance, and bold confidence that gives them the courage to take healthy risks. Come and see them perform tonight as Pine Tree takes on the Kilgore Bulldogs. Let's go Pirates! 🤩🏴‍☠️

On Saturday, September 19th, members of the PTHS Choir auditioned for a spot in the Region 4 Choir, earning 26% of the seats. The All-Region Choir is comprised of 96 students selected from 9 school districts. The PTHS Choir, under the direction of Danielle Warren, has repeatedly made a strong showing at the All-Region competition. Congratulations to our Pirates!

Mr. Aaron Handorf directs the Pine Tree Junior High Band in the national anthem at the grand re-opening of the Gilmer Road Wal-Mart in Pine Tree. Mrs. Kerri Daugbjerg received a grant on behalf of the PT Education Foundation. The EDH Basketball Club for youth joined by Dr. Shalonda Adams also received a grant. Thank you, Wal-Mart!

Congratulations to Mr. Christopher Dickson on being honored with the Don Crabtree Distinguished Service Award for his dedication and service to speech and debate students. This is Mr. Dickson's second time to receive the award. Thank you for your service to the speech and debate, theatre, and UIL students of Pine Tree! 🏴‍☠️

While PTISD staff return to work, UIL high school and junior high students are having fun volunteering to watch their children. UIL alumni Megan Wolfe and Katherine Castillo have been on board this week helping. Megan is a level 2 nursing major at SFA and has volunteered this summer at a kids camp as a nursing assistant. Katherine is a biology major at UT-Tyler with plans to apply to dental school. A huge thanks to the Primary Principal, Dr. Walker, for hosting and organizing the day camp and for everything she does! Dr. Walker wears many hats volunteering for UIL events across the district all while leading the Primary campus. Good luck to all of our Pirates this year! 🏴‍☠️

Congratulations to our 2026-2027 Band Leadership Team!

The Pine Tree High School Band would like to announce the Drum Majors for the 2026-2027 marching season. The candidates performed on their instrument, interviewed in person, and auditioned for a judge. The Pride selected three students to lead for the upcoming season. Mae Shen, an oboist who will be a senior next year; Emmalynn Edge, a saxophonist who will also be a senior; and Lexi Perry a clarinetist who will be a junior next year were selected as the drum majors. The Pride is coming off of a highly successful season, by qualifying to the UIL Open Class State Marching Contest and earning the UIL Sweepstakes award for Marching, Concert and Sight Reading. The Pride is excited about the momentum for the upcoming season. Attention all high schoolers and 8th graders:

The ’22nd Annual High School Art Exhibition’ features work by high school students from all across East Texas, the exhibition highlights young artistic talent while celebrating the role played by area art educators. Student, Joslyn Silva has her artwork currently on display at the High School Art Exhibition in Tyler, TX. Her artwork is titled "Sunrising Flowers" and is made with prismacolor. She says "I used Prisma colors to make this artwork. Sunflowers are my favorite flowers, I feel they are very symbolic to being able to depend on others in dark times. I also picked a purple background to help make the yellow sunflowers pop and grab the viewers eye." Her work will be on display from March 22nd to May 17th. Congrats to the new Pulse percussion line! From Mr. Lloyd: Wow... What an awesome round of auditions. The hard work I have seen this semester leading up to these auditions has been very encouraging. I had some really neat surprises in the audition room and I am very excited for next season and the future of the percussion section. Thank you guys for all of your hard work. It's dance time! Join our Precision dance team for their 40th anniversary spring show this weekend. They have been working hard, and the wow factor will leave you bedazzled as you discover some of the pillars, history, and pride of this disciplined Pine Tree organization.

Congratulations to the Pine Tree Junior High Varsity band for bringing home a first division superior rating! They earned all first division ratings on stage AND in sight reading at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest! 🏴‍☠️ Out of 34 bands only 4 earned straight 1s. Way to make us Pirate proud!
