Juliana Sims is a 2025 PT Fine Arts graduate and sophomore Studio Art major at the University of Texas at Austin. Juliana has most recently illustrated a children's book narrating the experiences of being a dyslexic learner. The book can be ordered from Barnes & Noble.
While a part of the Visual Arts program at Pine Tree, Juliana earned numerous honors including a state qualification for her original jewelry piece and service on the Longview Museum of Fine Arts Student Board.

Congratulations to UIL Journalism senior MacKenzie Finch! Mackenzie has been accepted into the Journalism and Mass Communications program at Texas State University and awarded the Presidential Scholarship worth $48,000. UIL Journalism is coached by Charlie Bates.

Today, our PTHS UIL team is attending the UIL Student Activity Conference at Tyler Junior College for a fun day of learning about all of the different events. Students can choose from more than 30 events and compete at the district, regional, and state levels.
The goal of the PTHS UIL program is to help students gain confidence and find a place to belong as they challenge themselves through academic competition.
Pine Tree Speech and Debate hosts area schools for a Congressional Debate workshop in preparation of the Region VII Congress contest on November 9th in Brownsboro. #piratesworkharder

Pine Tree speakers and debaters showed out at the Texas Speech and Debate camp hosted on the UT Tyler campus! They worked on performance speeches and debate cases and skills, earning the following awards:

The PTHS UIL team placed 3rd at the Region 2 meet hosted on the East Texas A&M Commerce campus last Saturday, up from 6th place last year.

We are glad to award Mrs. Avery Morrill the Pine Tree ISD Challenge Coin!
Mrs. Morrill is a Pine Tree treasure! She serves students on the PTMS and PTJH campuses as the Math and Science Team coach. You can also find her assisting with high school UIL tournaments and anything else across the district that someone asks her to do. Mrs. Morrill is one of the "oar rowers" who keep our Pine Tree UIL ship sailing. Thank you, Mrs. Morrill, for sharing your expertise and time so willingly. We appreciate you!

The Pine Tree ISD Challenge Coin represents people who go above and beyond what’s expected, step up, and make a difference in ways that don’t always get noticed right away. Her positive attitude and support say a lot about her character—she is reliable, thoughtful, and willing to put others first.
