Pine Tree hosted day one of our district tournament Wednesday, March 26. Out of 11 events, Pirates were champions in 10, and we had the Top Speaker of the day. PTHS is currently 1st place in the district by 115 points. The rest of the events will take place this Saturday, again at Pine Tree HS. Wish us luck!

Congratulations to the Pine Tree Middle and Junior High Math Science Team on their winning season! The team placed 🥇1st🥇overall at the regional TMSCA meet in Queen City on March 8. Their next meet will be the state Texas Math Science Coaches' Association (TMSCA) meet on March 29 in San Antonio. Good luck! 🏴☠️


Good luck to Aiden McQueary who has advanced to the final round of Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking at the Texas Forensics Association (TFA) state contest.
Aiden competed against 86 speakers from public, private, and charter schools from all over Texas and is one of six left in the final round. 🙌

Congratulations to the following Pine Tree Middle School 5th graders who swept the Texas History Day contest hosted at Texas A&M--Commerce today. The contest is sponsored by the National History Day organization. The theme this year is Rights and Responsibilities in History.

Congratulations to sophomore Melyssa Juarez! Melyssa's film animation made it through 3 rounds of judging and is 1 of only 6 STATE FINALISTS! 🏴☠️
The UIL Film Animation contest is one of several UIL events for the visual and theatrical arts.
The contest is led by Graphics Design teacher Ms. Caity Rutledge. As a state finalist, Melyssa is now qualified to apply for the UIL TILF scholarships when she is a senior. To watch Melyssa's film short, use the QR code below. #pirateproud


Congratulations to sophomore Mitchell Eggerman on his 4th place finish in the Texas Eastman Black History Oratorical contest. Mitchell was the youngest contestant today and the youngest from Pine Tree to advance.
Mitchell's essay about Sylvester James Gates, Jr. was one of five out of 32 submissions selected as a finalist. Mitchell was awarded $500 from Texas Eastman.


The PTHS UIL Academic Team had a busy January. They hosted the annual Jar of Dirt meet on January 11 and traveled to Melissa HS on January 24-25 to compete in the Cardinal Classic. The team would like to thank the Pine Tree community and especially our parent volunteers who make our events possible. The team will compete next in the Hallsville Tournament of Hearts on February 8 and in Sulphur Springs on February 15. The Speech and Debate Team will compete in the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) tournament February 13-15 where students hope to qualify again to the national meet in Iowa this summer. Congratulations to the following medalists.

A special shout out goes to 6th and 8th grade competitors for coming in 🥇1st place🥇 in their grades and to Mrs. Francetta McGowen and Mrs. Donna Kistner for hosting the event. The 7th grade missed 1st place by only 4 points, improving the overall team score from last year. We are proud of our Pirates! 🏴☠️
