Dual Credit FAQ
  • PTISD high school students can take Kilgore College and/or LeTourneau University courses and receive credit both for their high school diploma and their college degree. Courses may be taught on the high school or college campus by college professors. Courses are being added each year into the Pine Tree ISD Dual Credit program that will allow a students to gain college hours in a variety of college disciplines. For questions regarding specific courses, please contact your campus counselor.
  • The first step is to get approval from your high school counselor. Students will then need to qualify for enrollment with either STAAR scores, TSI/ACT/SAT scores and or their GPA. Your counselor will assist you in qualifying for enrollment.
  • Weighted grade points are awarded for successful completion of a dual credit course. Specifically, regular courses allow you to obtain a maximum point total of 4.0, dual credit earns a maximum point total of 5.0, and AP earns a maximum point total of 5.5.
  • There is no college-based assistance at this time. However, PTISD does offer Dual Credit Scholarships each semester for which students are encouraged to apply. Please refer to your counselor on the availability of these scholarships and the application process.
