Substitute School Nurse
Thank you for your interest in being a Substitute School Nurse. You must meet certain requirements for this position.
- Current license or certification with the Texas Board of Nursing or Texas Department of Health Services...such as RN, LVN, CNA, or EMT
- Current BLS and CPR certifications
- Must be able to read and administer medication as directed
- Knowledge of first aid
Once your application is fully completed including references questionnaire and received at the Central Office the process is as follows:
- Applicant must meet all necessary requirements.
- License and Certifications will be verified.
- HR will conduct a background check.
- FAST PASS is issued for fingerprinting and is REQUIRED for all district employees. (Applicant will receive an email with instructions and will be responsible for all fees.)
- After fingerprints are completed and processed, PTISD will be notified.
- You will receive an email asking for you to set up a time to come to Central Administration to meet with me. At that time, you will need to bring your substitute nurse packet completed along with a copy of your High School Diploma or GED, Driver’s License, Social Security card, Licenses and/or Certifications. You will also complete any additional paperwork, and we will take your picture for your official badge at that time.
- I will then refer all of your information to the Head School Nurse, and she will be in contact with you personally when you are needed.
- If you are interested in becoming a teacher substitute, you must attend Substitute Orientation.
