Students taking tests

The Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) is the Texas state standardized test previously used in grades 3-8 and grades 9-11 to measure the extent to which a student has learned and is able to apply the defined knowledge and skills at each tested grade level.

From 2012 to 2014, the test was phased out and replaced by the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test.  All students who entered 9th grade prior to the 2011-2012 school year must successfully complete the TAKS exit level testing requirements.

To register for the TAKS Exit Level test, please click the TAKS Registration link to the left.

Homeschoolers who wish to take the TAKS test should contact the TEA Student Assessment Division at (512) 463-9536.

Study Guides for the TAKS test can be found on the TEA website.  Click the link on the right side of this page for more information.

For questions regarding TAKS registration, please contact Debbie Terry at (903) 295-5000 or dterry@ptisd.org.
